Poor House
(also known as "Almshouse")

About one-third of the language in the 1812 charter of the Township of Bloomfield provided for a "poor house". [Add specific language. Did the house exist at the time, or was it to be created?]. The building used for this purpose was located where Beverly Road is today, near what is now Clark's Pond. It is shown in red as "Almshouse" on the 1890 map of Bloomfield, just above (west of) "Morris Pond", which was once known as "Poorhouse Pond".

The structure was torn down about 1940.
